Ejido Verde

WE ENCOURAGE RECIPROCITY IN THE ENVIRONMENT TO RETURN A LITTLE OF WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US
Generate prosperity in ejidos and forest communities in Mexico, by establishing commercial agroforestry plantations mainly in degraded lands whose main purpose is the use of pine resin

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to reach 12,000 hectares (an area twice the size of Manhattan) of commercial agroforestry plantations by 2030 mainly in Michoacán. We also expect to increase our sourcing and purchasing of crude pine resin from natural forests.
This goal can propel 12,000 rural and indigenous families into the middle class and elevate the Mexican pine resin industry to lead the global market.

Impact plan by 2030:

  • 12,000 hectares of plantations reforested under management
  • 6 million tons of sequestered carbon
  • Over 3,000 family farms
  • Thousands of individual commercial agroforestry plantations
  • 6,000 full-time jobs earning four times above the minimum livable wage, propelling families into the middle class
  • 10,000 full-time jobs cutting 3-5x minimum livable wages

By august 2019

  • 4,285 hectares of plantations under management
  • 72,015 tons of sequestered carbon
  • 650 family farms
  • 144 full-time jobs, earning 2.4 times more than the minimum, livable wage
  • 240 full-time, earning 3.5 times more than the minimum, livable wage (Inception to December 2018)
  • 999 commercial agroforestry plantations
  • 13 rural and indigenous communities with strengthened environmental and social governance

OUR IMPACT

We are working hard to reach our goal. Our plan spurs regenerative innovations across other commodity supply chains, creating new methods to ensure more reliable supplies, better economic opportunities for rural communities, and meaningful environmental benefits:

Regenerative Dashboard

We are using a “regenerative dashboard” to measure, manage and communicate impact with all stakeholders. We select indicators that reflect key performance metrics, mitigate key risks, and track financial and non-financial value creation. Verifiable and measurable indicators are chosen from Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS). If IRIS does not offer a relevant standardized indicator, Ejido Verde creates new ones while also considering qualitative data and assessments.
